Paul encourages the Roman believers to live in the strength that God has given them in the person and power of His Holy Spirit. We are free of condemnation, free from obligation to our sinful nature, and free to call God our Abba Father. We are free to follow the Messiah Jesus and live as partners in the inheritance that He receives. We are free to identify as God’s children through the process of suffering. Although it may seem harsh or cruel for God to allow His children to suffer hurt, loss, and pain, Paul continues to encourage those who are following Messiah Jesus by reminding them of why they should endure difficulty and what this endurance looks like. The inheritance is guaranteed, but we must wait for it to be fully ours. So we ask ourselves “why do we wait”?
