Escape rooms offer interesting insight into human behavior; some people panic while others work methodically through the puzzle. Once the scenario begins, you have a set limit of time to work your way through a series of puzzles that will eventually lead to you leaving the room. What fascinates me is that at the beginning, all the information you need is with you in the room. You may not know its location, how it fits into the overall solution, or what is needed but EVERYTHING has already been given to you.
John writes about the challenges his audience faces. They need basic reminders about what is important; and today the needed answer has been with them all along. They do not have a need for something additional; they need to use what they already have. The information they have is that Jesus is the Messiah. John shows how resilient this simple truth is as he highlights three characteristics of truth.
