Students, by nature, ask questions about the world around them and the subject under consideration. However, they always seem to ask: “When am I ever going to use this?” Why should I know the capital of ancient Mesopotamia, when Charlemagne ruled the Holy Roman Empire, or how to measure the cosine of a right triangle? I am sure Jesus was asked questions about His teachings too.
Today, Jesus continues the conversation started in the synagogue. First, Jesus healed a woman of an 18-year illness on the Sabbath. Now, He illustrates how God’s kingdom is different than the world around us. Finally, ask “how does this affect me?” I assure you that it does. God’s future Kingdom affects my life today.
