John highlights the important message “God is light.”  Now John emphasizes another familiar message about love. This message is life-changing and life-defining. Love is transformative. Love transforms emotions into motions. John provides his audience with an illustration, an explanation, and a commendation about love.

What makes you afraid? David writes this psalm specifically for those feeling alone, abandoned, or left out. You are never alone. Not only is God present, but God hears you.

The blessings of a relationship with God work themselves out in practical ways – demonstrating just how much God cares for us. Notice how God continues to demonstrate His care and love for us – in the present, in the past, and in the future!
