Timothy had a responsibility to use what God had given him; and so do you. It is your duty, your obligation to serve the Lord. In order to finish well, Timothy needed to remember his duty. There is joy in serving Jesus; and you will find three steps leading to that joy.

Why do you do what you do? Paul reminds Timothy to ‘stay on message’ in order to effectively live out God’s Word. You, like Timothy, must be involved in knowing and applying God’s Word.

Hansel and Gretel relied on breadcrumbs to find their way home. The Christian journey does not operate that way, since we have not yet been to our final destination! Paul reminds us that since Jesus directs our steps we must simply follow the trail.
